Our Story

How it all started...

Records were not kept and preserved when the church was established as well as they are today. The history of Hoopers Creek Baptist Church goes back to the 1840's and beyond. Around this time a meeting house was built in the old cemetery. In 1856, an "arm" was granted from Liberty Baptist Church to Hoopers Creek to become an organized Baptist Church.

Hoopers Creek Baptist Church has had many Pastors since the beginning. The first being Elder William Mince (Mintz). Later, Rev. William Wilkie, Rev. Luther Kirstein, Rev. W.C. (Buck) Huntley, Rev. Odell Barnwell, Rev. Whitaker, Rev Howard Cabe, Rev. Lawrence Rhodes and present Pastor Rev. Phillp Youngblood.
This is Pastor Phillip & Wife, Shasha Youngblood.
They have been married since June 17, 2000.

Meet our pastor and his wife

In May 2011, after faithfully serving for 47 years, our beloved pastor, Lawernce Rhodes, finished his earthly race and went home to be with the Lord. In God's providence, the spiritual mantle of leadership was passed to his Grandson, Phillip Youngblood. On June 10, 2012, Phillip officially became the Pastor of Hoopers Creek Baptist Church and has been faithfully "holding the mantle high" ever since. Pastor Phillip is not only actively involved in the life of the church, but also in the surrounding community and the gospel radio ministry. He genuinely loves and cares for every member of the church family and has a deep desire to see the youth grow spiritually and be rooted in good gospel soil.  Hoopers Creek Baptist Church is grateful for Pastor Phillip's leadership, insight, and dedication to the ministry.
Together they have built a wonderful life and a great family.
They have three adult children: Cassidy, Gracie, and Zac.
In the past few years, the family has grown.
They have added two sons-in-laws: Austin and Seth.
Plus two little grandchildren: Oaklynn and Carter Souther.

Be a part of our story...

We the members of Hoopers Creek Baptist Church have deep Spiritual heritage. Many of our present members had family present at the beginning of the Church. As we enter into these last days, we pray that we hold fast to the truths on which our Church was established. As each of us leave the scene, we hope that we too will leave the same Spiritual heritages our Forefathers.

Join us every Sunday as we gather to worship together at 11:00am and 6:00pm. Also, on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm. We would love to have you!!
